Welcome to the Alinea Mosaic -- beta launch. And thank you for your early purchase of the Alinea book.

The Alinea book is off to the printer and we could not be more excited to share the recipes and essays with you. It came in at over 400 pages with hundreds of beautiful photos shot over a two-year period. We are confident that it will be unlike any other cookbook you own.

Where the Alinea book is polished, smartly edited, and static, the Alinea Mosaic Website will be informal, dynamic, and a little rough around the edges. The photos, videos, and recipes you see here were all made “in house” at Alinea.

Over the next 5 months we will be constantly expanding the Mosaic site and its functionality. What you see here is only a small taste of things to come. Week one will see 10 recipes, 3 demonstration videos, food photography wallpapers, and our user forum where we encourage your participation, comments, and questions. The recipes have been re-formatted for the web and the interactivity will change soon.

Shortly after launch we will begin adding a variety of material: more bonus recipes, content from the book, interactive annotation of the cookbook recipes, videos, slideshows, and recipe development ideas. We have asked our staff to write about working at Alinea and we will share their thoughts and commentary. The book’s index and glossary with current links to suppliers and recipes will be included. Our goal is to build a dynamic website that spans the interests of chefs and food lovers and gives them access to one another.

We are reliant on your feedback as beta users to build and improve the site – and we expect it to take some unexpected turns. We look forward to the ride.
